Od „społeczeństwa” do „socjologii”. Socjolingwistyczny przyczynek do narodzin socjologii w polskiej nauce

Abstract

The “society” is one of collective nouns in Polish which designates a certain kind of community. It arose consequent upon new historical experiences in the 2nd half of the 18th century. While describing some newly emerging socio-political issues, it occupied the abiding semantic void. After a hundred years of the “society” finding its way into Polish, a new terminus of the sociology appeared which designated the science of society. Do these linguistic facts have any cognitive importance of clarifying the phenomenon of the appearance of sociology in Polish science? This is the question the text presented tries to answer.
