Abstract

In the paper, the problem of the variety of liberalisms in the Third Polish Republic is discussed. First of all, the objective is to determine the versions and shades of liberalism emerging in the Polish Parliament after 1989 and the characteristic features possibly attributed to them. The paper distinguishes the following types of liberalism: economic, modest, electoral and cultural. Within each of them, some main characteristics are attempted to be shown which are decisive for labeling a political party according to the above presented scheme of the analysis of the political thought. The analysis is accomplished with Szacki’s idea of the liberal minimum in mind, as well as with that of the rights and liberty of individuals.
