Polityka tożsamości a kryzys amerykańskiego liberalizmu
Abstract
The paper is dedicated to the latest book by Mark Lilla, The Once and Future Liberal, and the discussion prompted on the condition of the American liberalism. In the paper, the main threats of the book are presented. Especially, Lilla’s staunch criticism of identity politics is enhanced, responsible (in Lilla’s opinion) for the decreasing role of liberals in the American public life. Also, an attempt is made to evaluate the proposals presented for liberalism to get out of the impasse — against the background of similar diagnoses by other authors.
