Czy demokracja może być liberalna?

Abstract

The article is a commentary to Fareed Zakaria’s book The Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad. It focuses on the difference between liberalism and democracy (as underscored by Zakaria), and the possible split between them two within the existing modern democratic liberal order. Some restrictions regarding the dichotomy have been pointed out, too. In this context, the present commentary tackles the problem of how up-to-date is the work of the American author on against current tendencies and changes in the policies of the West. While the book by Zakaria was published already back in 2003, the Polish translation only appeared in 2018.
