Abstract


The text aims at explaining why Max Weber’s sociology of law found little interest in Poland. To answer the question, the author tracks the beginnings of the institutional sociology of law in Poland, with focus on the source of still vital split of  sociology of law into that addressed to sociologists and that addressed to lawyers. Then she analyzes the specificity of the modern sociology of law in Poland  ans defines these aspects  of Weber’s conception which are especially missing   in the scientific reflection on the law and society in our country.
